Miss Linda's Piano

Piano Lessons

TEchnique & Theory

I use the Faber & Faber Piano Adventures series as the core of my pedagogy. I feel it is crucial to teach theory in tandem with technique. Students will always have music to practice, theory to explore and exercises to improve technique, speed, precision, agility and strength.

Lessons are focused but relaxed. I believe that creativity can only blossom when the student feels comfortable, safe and self-confident.

Lessons are fun. Music is my joy - it should be your joy. I never want a student to feel burdened. Ultimately, practice needs to come from an intrinsic desire to get better, to learn, to grow and to create. My intention is always to foster this in my students.

I began teaching piano at a small suburban music studio just outside of Chicago. I found myself teaching full-time with over 40 students ranging in age from 5 years to 65 years old. It didn't take long for me to realize that I had found my joy! I was promoted to Director of Educational Programming and found that I missed being able to focus only on one child / on student at a time - that is when I decided to go out on my own, and opened True Muse Music & Performing Arts.

While piano was not my first instrument (I began with the violin), nor is it my primary one (as I am a vocalist) it is, in my opinion, the best instrument to begin with. Easy enough for little fingers to navigate, always providing instant gratification for players at any level at any age. I love its simplicity, its organization, its grandness. More than anything, it is the perfect instrument for me to teach my LOVE of music to any student.
